For purely entertainment-based reasons, Fall is my favorite season. Not only do we get 12 beautiful hours of NFL football every Sunday, as well as a bevy of potential Oscar hopefuls every Friday, but we get the one thing that makes me more excited than a than an I Love the 80’s marathon: the Fall TV season. The wonderful time of year where every network trots out 10 or so shows each and we get decide just how much they do or do not suck balls (Quick answer: About 80% of them).

I love it because I love television. A lot. I watch a crazy amount of television, with a majority of that being really, really bad television. Here’s a sampling of my favorite type TV of shows: Beverly Hills, 90210, The O.C., Dawson’s Creek, et al. You get the point. And yes, I know I’m a girl.

This season I’m determined to watch every new show at least once, just so I can have an opinion on it. Last year I skipped the Jack and Bobby bandwagon only to have all my friends watch it religiously, then discuss it in front of me each week ad nauseam, thereby effectively cutting me out of the conversation. And where’s that show now? Gone. The lesson here being: The Jay can not be silenced.

So every week or so I’ll let you guys know my take on all the new shows of the Fall. Here are some thoughts on what I’ve caught so far:

Supernatural – Cool, creepy show. I missed the premiere, but caught the encore. Big points to the WB for adding the disclaimer that we should turn off the lights to enhance the viewing pleasure. I may not catch it all the time, but it’s just like Medium, another cool creepy show, where I enjoy myself every time I see it, but make no real effort to watch it every week.

Quick note: The WB scored nicely with the casting of the two brothers. They seem to love re-packaging their stable of stars, and came up with a good combo this time (Jenson Ackles from Smallville and Jared Padalecki from Gilmore Girls). The re-packaged cast idea is so great that every time I hear about a new show I’m dying to see which Roswell cast off is finally getting their own series. Its just a matter of time before I hear this announcement: The WB proudly presents Big Heads, an exciting new series starring Shannen Doherty and James Van Der Beek, about two really annoying former TV stars who team up to run a tabloid new magazine. Coming this fall!

Reunion – Eh. I like the premise, but the acting is deplorable. This is another WB-like series full off former TV series cast-offs. The guy from American Dreams has about as much range as a popsicle stick. And for now we’ll just ignore the utter blankness radiating from that North Shore, O.C. sendoff (though she does rock the Madonna look about as best as you could imagine). I may give the show a couple more episodes to develop, but right now it has way too much cast baggage to overcome.

The Showbiz Show – Liked it the first time when it was called “Hollywood Minute”. And the second time when it was called “Talk Soup”. And the third time when it was called “The Daily Show”. And lastly, the fourth time when it was called “Best Week Ever” (which is what this show wants to be, but is not). David Spade isn’t funny anymore, and those credit card commercials aren’t helping. I give it two months before it’s preempted by another rerun of South Park.

Prison Break – I watched for all of five minutes before flipping over to a rerun of Friends. This show is about as entertaining as watching Donald Trump host Saturday Night Live.

Taradise – Gold. Pure, unadulterated gold. This is what cable TV was made for.

Back next week for look at The War at Home, Bones, Head Cases and My Name is Earl and Threshold.

Bangarang, Fall TV!
