And who the eff cried when The Nines got canceled? Mercy killing, I say.

I still cry into my pillow for X-Files (the DD years), Firefly (neither overtly geeky nor insular), and Studio 60 (ok- not as much). A girl can only fall in love so many times!!

And whadda ya mean Andy Barker got cut???

I can still get up in the morning however, to watch the hopeful newcomers like Heroes, Dexter, Flight of the Conchords (come ON people this one is brilliant!) and Californication (welcome back, DD baby!!).

I know what I like and what I like is smart, witty, droll and sublimely quirky. Now why can’t everyone just agree with ME??!

I’m also p.o.’d cause my fave russian ballroom dancer got cut from S.Y.T.Y.C.Dance… it’s a cranky kind of day.

But you can’t forget that most of the shows loved by you and I, were too smart.

Smart comedy doesn’t bode well. Smart drama, doesn’t bode well. Unfortunately the majority of the television viewing audience needs dumbed down programs. Which is why we now have “Cavemen”

Not imitating Meg Ryan, just agreeing. But I do have to add something I’ve been saying for years – most shows get cancelled for the simple reason that THEY’RE NOT VERY GOOD, not because THE VIEWERS DON’T GET IT (for every “Dead Like Me” there are a whole crapload of “Summerland”s). Fans of shortlived shows like to say that it should have a chance, but how many chances should something get?

I’m not a major fan of “The King of Queens” or “Everybody Loves Raymond,” but I can see why they have their fans (my big sister included). I’d have been sorrier about the demise of “Roswell” if the third season hadn’t made it seem like a mercy killing (and really, how is it that Katharine Heigl’s gotten another series while Shiri Appleby hasn’t?).

Having said that, if anyone starts to mount a “Bring Back ‘What About Brian’” Campaign I WILL kill them.
