UPDATE: It’s true. His housekeeper found him dead on the floor of his apartment. Police apparently responded to a cardiac arrest call. He died at 3:26pm EST.
Cardiac Arrest means drugs.
I now have another reason to hate A Knight’s Tale (beyond Shannyn Sossamon). The star of the movie just overdosed and left his two year-old child without a father.
Way to go, Brokeback.
ORIGINAL POST:
CNN.com is reporting that Heath Ledger has been found dead in his NYC apartment.
And I am freaking the eff out.
I hope this is not true. The Joker can’t go out like this…
Details to come…
Bangarang!

I’m still in a state of disbelief.

I’m waiting for someone to come out and say this was all just a publicity stunt for the new Batman movie..

Don’t hold your breath there, kid.

I hope you’ve rethought this awful post. The newest is that he may have died of natural causes.

No one dies of natural causes at 28. Especially not when they have Amben, Valium and Xanax in their system. This things reeks of fishiness.
I still hold out hope that it was a genuine accident, but the likelihood of that seems to slip a bit more with each passing day.

Here’s how I see it: Ledger was suffering from insomnia because of the strain of doing both The Dark Knight and I’m Not There. He gets a prescription for sleeping pills. 2 pills don’t get him the good night’s sleep he needed, so he tried more. Given that whenever anybody is neglected rest or, as it appears in this case, peace of mind…the ability to think clearly is impaired.
There’s probably more to it than that, but from what is already evident, it isn’t unreasonable to think this was an unfortunate accident.
(if there’s information that contradicts my theory, let me know.)

I think you may be right, The Jay, and it’s breaking my heart.
I fell in love with Gabriel when I first watched The Patriot. My heart is heavy and sad.

Just read the reports of Jake Gyllenhaal’s distress. Such sad stuff. Gotta hurt hard for that kid. And he only has Reese Witherspoon to go home to. That’s bad…
