For the record, I was 6 for 7 on the big ones, and I nailed 15 total on my unofficial ballot tonight. Botched VFX, Song and Actress, but toes nailed Animated Feature, Score, Art Direction & Costume. Even called the Tilda win and the Jon Stewart B- perf.

I had a good year...

I just saw 30 minutes of the Oscar ceremony and what shall I say? DDL won in the category as best actor and so did the screenplay for Juno. How did you know?? You're friends with a person from the committee, right? But I have to say: my vote had gone to Johnny Depp!

I actually disagree with you this year on almost everything. That doesn't bode well for me since you have seen pretty much everything nominated and I, alas, have not. Hopefully I'll still win my Oscar contest with my picks :)

Jeff: To the voters who don't watch The Wire (and unfortunately not many do), her resume is bunk. She's done a ton of TV, but NOTHING she's done has penetrated the movie-going conscious. That's what I'm talking about.

Frankly, I'm appalled after reading what you wrote about Amy Ryan, implying that she hasn't been in ANY other tv shows/movies. Obviously you don't watch The Wire. I honestly don't know how to react to this, as The Wire is arguably the best show in the HISTORY of television, and you consider yourself somewhat of an expert.

I enjoy your site, but will view The Jay in a new light if you don't watch The Wire (HBO by the way). You're missing out on the apex of awesome. (Amy Ryan is involved prominently in season 2 and has a recurring role after that)

Man, I totally agree with all your 'Should wins' - I have the same feelings (except for Potter?!). I really liked lil bro Affleck in Assassination of Jesse James. If it wasn't for Javier Bardem... Thoroughly enjoyed your Oscar pitches. Keep up the good work!

If you watch Juno more than once, you'll realize that the only saving grace in that film is Ms. Page. Everyone else's character is poorly written and developed. I can understand the initial "oh my god it's so great" reaction, but really, it's just another 'Garden State' moment. People will hate it a couple of months after the DVD release.

Wanted to let you know about a newsreader out there that exists that bases it's content on what the user actually WANTS to see. It's called 'Sprout'. Very intuitive, quickly learns what you like to read and what doesn't interest you. There's a free trial on now. You can find it here: www.yoursprout.ca.
